The area covered by the Penedès D.O. is situated between Barcelona and Tarragona. It is 5º miles wide and bounded to the north by the mountains of Montserrat and to the south by the coast of Sitges and Salou. The soil is varied, ranging from clayey and limey to sandy, and requires the vines to be planted at different depths for them to take root. Its Mediterranean climate is mild in both winter and summer. In the south, its slightly rainy valleys make it possible to grow vines without having to water them.

The capital of El Penedès is VILAFRANCA, the town where PINORD has its winery and cellars.
The quality of our land is beyond question. There are indications that grapes were grown for making wine several centuries before Christ. The Romans even regarded it as a sign of wealth. Growing vines was a privilege reserved for the Romans, clear proof of the yield and good results obtained from these lands.
